Jake Paul and Mike Tyson's fight failed to live up to the hype.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have been handed mandatory 24-day suspensions by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation following their high-profile bout in Arlington on Saturday.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer and former undisputed heavyweight champion received the minimum suspension period required by the state's regulatory body.

The suspensions come after Paul emerged victorious in their eight-round contest through a unanimous decision, in what observers described as an uninspiring match.

The fight, which drew over 100 million viewers at its peak, saw the 27-year-old Paul triumph over his 58-year-old opponent.

Under Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation rules, fighters must observe a mandatory rest period of three days for each round fought.

As Paul and Tyson competed in an eight-round contest, this resulted in their 24-day suspension period.

The ruling also affected other fighters on the card, with Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor receiving longer 45-day suspensions following their full-distance bout.

Taylor emerged victorious in that contest via unanimous decision, with both fighters now facing more than a month on the sidelines.

After an initial burst from Tyson, the veteran boxer appeared to tire quickly, allowing Paul to take control of the fight.

Paul later claimed he was holding back against his legendary opponent as the fight progressed.

"After I'd seen him tired I didn't want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience," Paul said.

The younger fighter even apologised to fans for not delivering on his pre-fight promise of a knockout.

"I'm sorry I didn't knock him out," Paul told his supporters.

Paul reflected on the unique experience of fighting in a stadium environment, noting it felt less intense than arena bouts.

"Fighting in a stadium, it is less personal and less loud so it is less nerve racking," he said.

The social media star explained how he methodically approached the fight, saying: "First round I was gauging his speed, and I managed to get his time pretty quick."

Looking ahead, Paul expressed confidence in his boxing future, declaring: "I think it could happen in the next 24 months. I truly, truly believe in my skills and my ability and my power."

He specifically targeted the cruiserweight division, describing it as "seemingly open for the taking."
