Mike Tyson has not fought in the ring since his defeat to Jake Paul last November

Mike Tyson will return to boxing this Friday, not as a fighter but as a guest analyst for the star-studded Times Square card in New York City.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion announced his new role on Tuesday, tweeting: "Can't wait! I'll be there in Times Square as guest analyst."

This marks Tyson's first return to the boxing world since his controversial bout against Jake Paul last November, where he lost by unanimous decision at Arlington's AT&T Stadium.

The 58-year-old boxing legend will be ringside, providing expert analysis for the DAZN broadcast of the event.

The four-fight bill features some of boxing's biggest names, with fierce rivals Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney headlining in separate bouts.

Garcia is scheduled to face former WBA super lightweight champion Rolly Romero in the main event of the evening.

Haney, meanwhile, will take on former unified WBC and WBO super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez in a separate contest.

Further down the card, Teofimo Lopez puts his WBO super lightweight title on the line against Arnold Barboza Jr.

Japanese amateur standout and The Ring ambassador Reito Tsutsumi will make his professional debut against Levale Whittington to round out the four-fight bill.

The event, billed as "Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves", is set to transform Times Square into a boxing spectacle.

The Ring Magazine described it as a "landmark event" that will "not only honour boxing's storied past but also redefine its future by bringing the raw energy of the ring to one of the most iconic locations in the world."

Should Garcia and Haney win their respective bouts, they will be elevated to a rematch in October following their controversial first encounter.

In their initial fight, Garcia dropped Haney three times en route to being declared the victor via majority decision.

However, the result was later overturned to a no contest after 'King Ry' failed two separate drug tests for the banned substance Ostarine.

Garcia received a one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission, despite his team contending he was a victim of a contaminated substance.

He was officially cleared to fight again last week after submitting a clean drug test.

Haney had filed a civil complaint against Garcia, alleging battery, fraud and breach of contract relating to their first fight.

The case has since been settled out of court and will be dismissed in May.

Tyson's return to an analytical role comes after his high-profile boxing comeback against Jake Paul last year, where he landed just 18 punches throughout the contest.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

The 58-year-old appeared to confirm his retirement from fighting in a recent interview with Men's Health, saying, "the only person I'm fighting now is my accountant."

Paul is said to have earned approximately £32 million from the bout, while Tyson reportedly received around £16 million.

The November fight attracted massive viewership, with an average of 60 million households watching the main event live.

Tyson's health had been a concern leading up to the Paul fight, with the contest initially delayed in June when he suffered an ulcer flareup on a cross-country flight.

The boxing legend later claimed he nearly died during that incident and ultimately required eight blood transfusions during his recovery.
