"It wasn’t to be last night. A great battle. Congratulations @DerekWarChisora on your victory!" he said.

"Thanks to my fans for supporting me, I’ll be back…"

However, fans on X believe it's the right time for Joyce to hang up his gloves after being outclassed in the ring last night.

"Joe, you've given us some great fights that all your fans thank you for. However, I feel it is best if you retire for your health. Good luck in the future," said one user.

A second simply said: "Don't bother."

Another said: "You shouldn’t be losing to chisora after the results you’ve had before Zhang. You should think about hanging it up if you can financially."

A fourth stated: "Goodbye Joe. It's curtains this time around. Silver medal and interim Heavyweight champion are two good accolades to retire with."

And a fifth user said: "Don’t bother. Too slow, too easy to hit and too scarred after the Zhang fights. Call it a day before you get hurt."

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I've got to be honest with you, I genuinely did not think that fight would go like this.

“I thought Joe would win the fight and I thought he would stop Derek.

"But, I mean, what was that all about with a pair of them? I mean, they just did not stop. They did miss each other at times.

“Everything they were throwing they were connecting with and I think it was the last two rounds that did it for Derek."

When asked what Chisora plans to do next, Warren continued: "Well, it's up to him and whatever he wants to do, we'll sit down and discuss it with him.

"And with Joe, we'll see where the both of them go. But they're fighting men, aren't they? They're fighting men.

"People say how do they do it at the age they are. What are they doing it for and whatever? You do it because they're fighting men, but these are fights that catch up to you as well."
