Chris Eubank Jr missed weight by a fraction to incur a huge fine ahead of his blockbuster fight against Conor Benn

Chris Eubank Jr has been hit with a $500,000 (£375,000) fine after failing to make weight for his highly anticipated fight with Conor Benn, who has since responded on social media.

The 35-year-old boxer missed the 160lbs middleweight limit during Friday's weigh-in at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr weighed in at 160.05lbs on his second and final attempt, just marginally over the agreed limit.

The fine will be deducted directly from Eubank Jr's fight purse, as per the rules of their agreement.

Benn, meanwhile, comfortably made weight at 156.4lbs, coming in nearly 4lbs under the middleweight limit.

Eubank Jr was more than an hour late to the weigh-in, which was scheduled for 11am on Friday.

His first attempt saw him register 160.2lbs on the scales and despite a second effort, he could only reduce his weight to 160.05lbs, still above the required 160lbs limit.

The weight issue has been a major point of contention in the build-up to Saturday's grudge match.

Benn wasted no time in responding to his rival's weight miss, taking to social media with a gleeful video.

"Show me the motherf***ing money!" Benn said with a beaming smile in the clip posted to X.

The hatred between the pair is evident, with Benn clearly delighted at the financial penalty imposed on Eubank Jr.

This follows earlier tension between the fighters, with Eubank Jr having previously been fined £100,000 for slapping Benn in the face with an egg during a pre-fight face-off.

Both fighters face further weight checks on Saturday morning due to a rehydration clause in their contract.

Neither man can exceed 170lbs when they are weighed at around 8am on fight day.

Should either fighter breach this limit, they will reportedly incur a penalty of approximately $1 million (£750,000).

The clause is unlikely to pose an issue for Benn, who typically competes at welterweight (147lbs).

Eubank Jr, however, according to his father, "walks around at around 180lb" and has had to "boil himself down" for this contest.

The bout will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, with the IBO middleweight title on the line.

This clash represents the third meeting between the two families, following the legendary bouts between Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn in the 1990s.

The fight was initially scheduled for 2022 at a 157lbs catchweight but was cancelled after Benn tested positive for a banned substance.

Ring walks for the main event are expected around 10pm on Saturday.
