The 35-year-old has been discharged from hospital

Chris Eubank Jr has been discharged from hospital two days after his thrilling victory over Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 35-year-old boxer was released on Monday morning following precautionary checks after Saturday night's grudge match.


Eubank Jr earned a unanimous decision win over Benn but suffered a nasty cut above his eye in the latter rounds of the contest.

He was unable to attend the post-fight press conference as his doctor sent him directly to hospital.

Following his hospital discharge, Eubank Jr issued a statement to fans on social media.

"Well it took nearly 3 years but we finally got the job done," he wrote.

"Big shout out to everyone that supported the fight on Saturday and made it the once in a lifetime event that it was without the fans none of this is possible, thank you."

The victory came after a 30-month wait for the fighters to clash.

Eubank Jr's promoter Ben Shalom had dismissed fears of a broken jaw, revealing the fighter was resting in hospital on Sunday.

Shalom said Eubank Jr had undergone "precautionary checks to monitor his vitals and ensure everything is in order."

The scorecards showed Eubank Jr won 116-112 on each judge's card, inflicting a first career defeat on Benn IN THE PROCESS.

The victory gave Eubank Jr bragging rights in their long-awaited grudge match.

Benn was also sent for precautionary checks at the hospital after speaking to the media, reportedly finding himself just two beds down from his rival.

Speaking at his post-fight press conference, the 28-year-old said: "I wish him well. I know he's gone to the hospital. I've heard he's got a broken jaw, so I wish him a speedy recovery."

Benn also thanked Chris Eubank Sr for attending, adding: "This really is a family affair and it wouldn't have been what it was without Sr there."

Chris Eubank Sr had expressed concerns about his son's safety in making weight before the fight.

Eubank Jr failed the first weigh-in on Friday, coming in slightly over the 160lb limit and receiving a £375,000 fine.

He did make weight for the strict 170lb cap for the fight-day weigh-in, however, with the bout proceeding as planned.

In the ring, Eubank Jr dominated, landing 152 more punches than Benn on his way to winning eight rounds.

There was a moment in the 12th round where he appeared vulnerable, but he rallied strongly.

In the aftermath of the fight, Eubank Jr reflected on the historic rivalry between their fathers.

"I knew I was capable of that, I just needed someone to bring that out of me. I'm not going to lie, I didn't expect that he'd be the guy to do that," he said.

"But the fact that our fathers did what they did all those years ago, it brings about a different soul and spirit into you, and that's what we showed tonight."
