Chris Eubank Jr has been hit with a £100,000 fine by the British Boxing Board of Control after slapping Conor Benn with an egg.

The incident occurred during their first press conference in Manchester ahead of their April 26 fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Board found Eubank Jr in breach of Regulation 25 for misconduct during the heated face-off between the two rivals.

During the face-off, Eubank Jr pulled a raw egg from his pocket and struck Benn across the face with it.

Security quickly intervened to separate the fighters as chaos erupted.

Nigel Benn, Conor's father, even grabbed Eubank Jr by the throat during the melee.

The pair had been exchanging heated words immediately before the slap, which escalated tensions dramatically.

The fight scheduled for April 26 was originally set to take place in October 2022.

That bout was cancelled after Benn failed two pre-fight drug tests.

Benn tested positive for clomifene just days before the original contest was due to take place.

The cancellation created a bitter feud between the sons of historic British boxing rivals Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn.

The rescheduled fight will now take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Eubank Jr later explained his egg stunt was a deliberate reference to Benn's previous doping case.

The WBC had previously suggested that Benn's positive drug test could have been attributed to "excessive consumption of eggs".

Eubank wrote on social media: "Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg."

Benn has since distanced himself from the egg consumption explanation for his adverse findings.

In a statement, the British Boxing Board of Control said: "Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jnr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester."

"As such, the Stewards of the Board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000."

The substantial fine represents one of the largest penalties issued by the Board for pre-fight misconduct.

Benn's provisional suspension has now been lifted, allowing him to box again in the UK.

The National Anti-Doping Panel cleared Benn for a second time following an investigation.

During the suspension period, Benn competed in two fights under a US boxing license, defeating Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson.

The second press conference between the fighters, held two days after the egg incident, proceeded without further altercations.
