Chris Eubank Jr has personally compensated undercard fighters who were left out of pocket when his 2022 bout with Conor Benn was cancelled.

The 35-year-old boxer revealed he has paid over £3,500 to ten fighters who were scheduled to appear on the card at the O2 Arena.

The original fight was called off just three days before it was due to take place after Benn failed a pre-fight drugs test.

Now, with less than ten days until the pair finally meet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Eubank Jr has stepped in where promoters Matchroom Boxing reportedly did not.

Benn has always maintained his innocence following the failed test that derailed the original contest.

A two-year legal battle ensued as the British boxer fought to clear his name.

His suspension from the British Boxing Board of Control was eventually lifted in November last year.

According to Eubank Jr, the fighters scheduled for the undercard of their cancelled 2022 bout received no compensation for their training camps from promoters.

This situation "never sat well" with Eubank Jr, who decided to take matters into his own hands.

Among those affected was his cousin Harlem Eubank, who was due to compete on the cancelled card.

Eubank Jr shared evidence of his generosity on social media, posting a screenshot showing payments to the affected fighters.

"After my first scheduled bout with @ConorNigel got cancelled @EddieHearn & @MatchroomBoxing never compensated anyone for their training camps, which never sat well with me," he wrote.

He added: "So here's a little something to help out the undercard fighters that were left out of pocket."

The payments totalled over £3,500 distributed among ten fighters who had prepared for the cancelled event.

In his social media post, Eubank Jr also noted that some boxers initially declined his offer of financial help.

The fighters' compensation comes as Eubank Jr and Benn prepare for their long-awaited showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The bout will finally take place after nearly three years of delays and controversy following the cancelled 2022 event.

That's despite Eubank Jr's father, Chris Eubank Sr, insisting the fight should be banned amid fears one of the fighters could suffer brain damage.
