AJ hasn't fought since losing to Daniel Dubois back in September

Dillian Whyte has launched a scathing attack on Anthony Joshua, declaring his rival is "finished" following Joshua's knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois.

The heavyweight contender is pushing for a rematch with Joshua, who suffered a devastating loss after being dropped three times by Dubois at Wembley in September.

"They talk about me as an option, but they haven't said anything to me, so it's just negotiation tactics from them. But I'm up for the fight and I'm ready to fight again," Whyte said.

"If he wants to fight, then all they've got to do is call me. I'm always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he's finished."

Whyte has particularly criticised Joshua's decision not to pursue an immediate rematch with Dubois.

"I think he made a huge mistake not taking the immediate rematch with Dubois. It was a world title fight, a great payday and the perfect opportunity to avenge his knockout loss," Whyte stated.

The former title challenger didn't hold back about the consequences of Joshua's defeat.

"He will forever have to suffer the memes of being face-planted at Wembley by Dubois," he added.

Despite the setback, Joshua still has several significant options ahead, including a potential showdown with Deontay Wilder.

The Wilder bout remains an appealing prospect, with previous negotiations having included a reported $50 million offer when both men were on course for an undisputed title clash.

While the American has lost his last two fights, the match-up still carries enough appeal to sell out venues.

These options, along with other potential fights, currently place Whyte further down the pecking order in Joshua's plans.

Joshua and Whyte's rivalry dates back to their 2015 clash, where Joshua secured a seventh-round knockout victory.

That win propelled Joshua towards his first world title shot against Charles Martin, where he claimed the IBF heavyweight crown.

While Joshua went on to become unified heavyweight champion before losing his belts, Whyte is yet to capture world honours.

Whyte has maintained strong form recently, securing three consecutive victories, including a seventh-round stoppage win over Ebenezer Tetteh.

The heavyweight contender expressed confidence that Joshua would accept the challenge, regardless of circumstances.

"He will turn up to fight me. If me and AJ fight, if we're 100 years-old, he'll turn up to fight me," Whyte stated.

The opportunity has gained renewed focus following Tyson Fury's retirement after his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk.
