The Gypsy King is preparing to return to the ring, having last fought Francis Ngannou back in October

Tyson Fury has admitted he was 'depressed' in the immediate aftermath of his eye injury earlier in the year.

The boxing star is currently gearing up for Saturday's seismic showdown with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia, with the two men poised to battle it out for the mantle of undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Fans have been waiting a long time to see the fight, which has been the subject to several delays so far.

Most recently, it had been due to take place in February. However, with Fury suffering a nasty eye injury in sparring, it was then pushed back.

And the 35-year-old, speaking to TNT Sports, has admitted he was 'depressed' after learning that he'd have to postpone the fight.

"It [camp] was practically finished, we maybe had a few little rounds to do after that sparring-wise," he recalled.

"When it happened, I was like ‘oh s**t’, I’ve got a cut, how bad is it?

"When I saw it was a big old gash, I was thinking ‘s**t’. It didn’t sink in for a few hours until I had my stitches in.

"And I thought, ‘it’s all off, can’t believe it’s all off’.

"I was quite down for a few days, I was depressed.

"As soon as we got it all sorted and put it back on for another day, I was alright then."

The fight between Fury and Usyk is arguably the biggest boxing match of the 21st century.

Not since 1999, when Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield, has a battle had so much at stake.

Fury has a point to prove, having struggled during his last fight against Francis Ngannou back in October.

Though he won via split decision, he was sent crashing to the canvas by the former MMA fighter - who was taking part in his first professional boxing match.

Fury has since opted to take his fight with Usyk far more seriously, with the Gypsy King losing a huge amount of weight.

He certainly looks slimmer that at any other point in his career.

And Fury insists he'll be too much for Usyk, while also expressing a belief there's not a single person who can beat him in the ring.

"I don’t think no man can beat me," he confidently proclaimed.

"There’s never been a man born who can beat me and apparently there has been 160 billion people born on this earth in history and I don’t think any one of them could beat me.

"Two at a time couldn’t beat me because I’m The Gypsy King and I’d find a way to win every time, and you’re going to see on Saturday night.

"I’m going to do it."

Usyk will, however, represent the toughest test of Fury's career.

The Ukrainian is even being viewed as the favourite to reign supreme, having beaten Anthony Joshua twice in the past.

Yet Fury holds no fear of his rival, adding: "This is what I live for, it's what I'm born and bred to do.

"From a newborn, I always believed this was my destiny. I’m supposed to be here, and if I wasn’t, God would have shown me that.

"Why should I be afraid of some Ukrainian dosser?"
