The Gypsy King goes up against Oleksandr Usyk next month

Tyson Fury's own father, John, has dubbed the 35-year-old 'a bit fat' as his blockbuster bout with Oleksandr Usyk creeps closer.

Today marks exactly one month until the two men will meet in Saudi Arabia, in a fight that's expected to draw the attention of the sporting world.

Fury vs Usyk isn't the only big boxing fight that's rapidly approaching, however.

On March 8, Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou will go up against each other - with that battle also due to take place in the Middle East.

And John thinks it'll be a good fight between the duo, though also believes fighters up their game against his son despite him being 'a bit fat'.

“I don’t know what it is when [fighters] see these big muscular men, they need brown trousers,” he told Seconds Out, via Freebets.com.

“When they see Tyson, a bit fat, doesn’t look much, they seem to bring their A-game and fight out of their skin.

“But when they see AJ, 6ft 6ins, 18 stone, solid, looks the part, the plug goes out of them.

“If Ngannou doesn’t c**p himself, it’ll be a good fight.”

John also thinks Fury 'took everything out of' Otto Wallin and Deontay Wilder.

Joshua powered his way to victory over Wallin in December, needing just five rounds to reign supreme.

Wallin had previously pushed Fury to his limit when they met in 2019.

And the Gypsy King won two of his bouts against Wilder in 2020 and 2021 respectively after their first match had ended in a draw.

John added: “Wallin was s**t scared of him.

“Fair play to AJ, he looked like a man on a mission.

“Otto Wallin never turned up, just like Deontay Wilder never. I’ve never seen anything as bad as Deontay Wilder in my life to be honest with you.

“I was looking at two different people in Wallin and Wilder – those were not the people who fought Tyson.

“Tyson probably took everything out of them.

“AJ looked the part and done the job, so he’s earned his right a put a step forward to a mega fight with Tyson.”

Regarding Fury's weight, the Gypsy King is unlikely to be bothered by his father's comments.

He previously said in October that he's proud of his size - and that he comes from a fat family.

"I actually embrace being fat because my love handles separate me from the rest of the world, ever in history," he said.

"There's never been anyone like me and there never will be.

"That's what makes me so tough and that's what makes me, me."

He continued: "I am fat now, I was fat as a baby and I will be fat on my death bed.

"We're all fat. Hughie is fat, Shane's fat, my dad's fat and even my mum's fat.

"I hope she's not watching this. But, we're a fat family.
