EXCLUSIVE: The 41-year-old has opened up ahead of the blockbuster bout this weekend

Tony Bellew disagrees with Eddie Hearn's comments that Anthony Joshua is more focused than ever before ahead of his fight with Daniel Dubois this weekend.

AJ and Dubois are currently preparing for a blockbuster showdown at Wembley, with plenty on the line.

Joshua can become a three-time world champion if he gets the better of his fellow Briton in the capital.

Dubois, meanwhile, is looking to defend his IBF belt.

Speaking recently, Hearn expressed a belief that Joshua was more focused than he's ever seen him before.

But Bellew disagrees with those comments, insisting the 34-year-old star has always had his eyes on the prize.

Speaking exclusively to GB News via AceOdds, he said: "Joshua is always focused. He's always focused and he's always in great shape.

"I don't think this is the most focused he's ever been. He prepares diligently, he lives the life, and he's a top athlete.

"He's focused on every fight. He shows every opponent the right amount of respect, and he prepares perfectly for every time he gets in that ring.

"There is not so much difference against Dubois."

Back in 2022, Joshua was written off by many as a faded force.

After losing to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time, he was widely mocked by fans online for saying it was harder for him because he's 'heavy'.

To his immense credit, however, Joshua has since responded by picking up four victories on the bounce.

He beat Jermaine Franklin Jr, Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin last year to rediscover his mojo.

And Joshua performed brilliantly back in March as he destroyed Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.

Ngannou had previously troubled Tyson Fury in October 2023 but had no answer to the excellence of AJ, who beat his rival in the second round of their showdown.

Bellew says it would be 'unfair' to label Joshua the best heavyweight on the planet right now given how Fury gave Usyk the toughest test of his career.

He does feel, however, that the Watford-born star is in the 'form of his life'.

"It's unfair to say, really," he said.

"With that kind of question, you're saying he's better than Tyson Fury.

"Right now, Tyson Fury's given Oleksandr Usyk his toughest fight so far. I don't know, but they're both losers to him [Usyk].

"What I'll say is, I think he's in the form of his life. That's one thing I'll say for AJ. He's in the form of his life, and I just think we'll see. Let's just see how it goes."

Meanwhile, away from boxing, Bellew also opened up on his beloved Everton.

The Toffees have endured a nightmare season so far, losing all four of their Premier League games, while they were also sent crashing out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

But Bellew has backed Sean Dyche to turn the Merseyside outfit around, saying: "You've got to stop sacking managers. The job he did last season was absolutely unbelievable. I don't think any manager in the world could have saved Everton last season in the position they were in and the points deducted. The way the Premier League made an example of us was just truly disgusting.

"But he came in and did an amazing job. He really did. The season before he did a great job. He's done fantastic. The last person we should be looking at the minute is the manager."
