The Ukrainian was snapped in handcuffs before later being released

Oleksandr Usyk has been released after being detained by police at Krakow airport as he jetted to London to watch the fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois this weekend.

Footage recently circled on social media showing the heavyweight star being led away by men in uniform after being handcuffed.

But Usyk has now clarified what happened, with the boxing star saying there was simply a 'misunderstanding' with the authorities.

"All is well my friends. There was a misunderstanding that was quickly resolved," he said.

"Thank you to everyone who was worried.

"Thank you Ukrainian diplomats for your support.

"And respect to Polish law enforcers, who perform their duties despite height, weight, arm range and regalia."

Usyk's camp manager, Serge Lapin, has also opened up on the incident.

He says everything is now in order, saying: "Don't worry, everything's fine.

"The customs control service is neglecting its duties."

Usyk had been jetting to London to watch the showdown between Joshua and Dubois, which will take place at Wembley this weekend.

AJ will be hoping to continue his recent winning run, having beaten Jermaine Franklin Jr, Otto Wallin, Robert Helenius and Francis Ngannou since losing to Usyk for a second time in 2022.

The Ukrainian star's wife, Kate, insisted her husband wasn't a 'criminal' and that 'everything is fine'.

She wrote on Instagram: "Thank God it's all fine. No one was arrested. Usyk is free. A misunderstanding."

With the matter now resolved, Usyk is set to be ringside for the weekend's blockbuster clash.

He will then turn his attentions to beating Tyson Fury for a second time, with their rematch poised to take place on December 21.

Usyk recently revealed that he was starting to train for the bout.

He is the only man to get the better of Fury over the course of the Gypsy King's illustrious career.

Usyk said earlier this month: "Now we have started, we're going to the training camp.

"From the last fight with Tyson Fury, I learned a lot about him, a lot of the things that I saw in the fight I didn't see on TV with all the fights that I saw of Tyson Fury.
