The heavyweight icon is preparing for his first fight since his draw with Roy Jones Jr back in 2020

Mike Tyson has made it clear he's open to prolonging his boxing career as he prepares to come out of retirement to fight Jake Paul.

Iron Mike last fought back in 2020, with his exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr ending in a draw.

Tyson retired from professional boxing all the way back in 2005 after losing to Kevin McBride in Washington D.C.

But he's been tempted into a return by Paul, who has won 10 of his 11 pro fights so far, despite previously saying he'd never go up against his fellow American.

Tyson recently spoke at a press conference and was quizzed on whether he'd come out of retirement again in the future, once his showdown with Paul is out of the way.

And the 58-year-old made it clear that was something he was potentially open to.

"Hey, we have options. We'll see," he said.

By refusing to shut the door completely on retirement, Tyson's upcoming battle against Paul might not be his last.

Tyson established himself as one of the best boxers of all time during the 1980s and 1990s.

He insists he's capable of winding back the clock, while also revealing he was 'ready' to bring Paul down.

"I'm very prepared [to knock out Jake Paul]. I'm very prepared," he said.

"I had a small adversity. I got sick, but I feel good. I'm just ready. I'm just ready.

"I'm going to do my talk and I'm going to talk my s**t, but I'm ready to fight.

"Hey, listen, as soon as I catch this guy it's over.

"Jake Paul is going to be running around the ring but as soon as I catch this guy, it's going to be totally over."

Meanwhile, the clash between the two boxers is shrouded in controversy due to the huge 31-year age gap between them.

Fans even booed Paul as he appeared at the press conference on Sunday.

And former UFC star Michael Bisping has branded the 27-year-old 'pathetic' for agreeing to fight a man who is over twice his age.

“Jake, I hate to point out the obvious, that makes you look pathetic,” Bisping said.

“You just admitted that you’re going up against an old man, who is a legend of course, but he’s not that guy anymore.

“Jake Paul, he’s a total — he’s just a tool bag. I’m not going to lower myself and swear.

"Look at him. It’s nice to see that he’s finally getting booed and the kind of response that he deserves.”

He added: “You are a joke. You are a disgrace to the combat world. You’re an imposter. You’re a wannabe. You’re a fake.

“Challenge yourself, you pathetic man, you pathetic individual. Fighting is about challenging yourself."
