The 58-year-old is set to return to the ring after a four-year absence on November 15

Boxing fans have vented their fury following a new press conference announcement ahead of Mike Tyson's fight with Jake Paul later this year.

Tyson and Paul are set to do battle at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15, having originally been due to fight on July 20.

That bout was postponed due to Tyson recently suffering an ulcer flare up.

He has since resumed training in the gym, with the heavyweight icon eager to show he still possesses the powers of old despite his age.

Earlier this week, Most Valuable Promotions confirmed that Tyson and Paul will be present at a press conference on August 18.

They said: "It's on! Jake Paul (10-1 7KOs) and Mike Tyson (50-6 44 KOs) will face off at a press conference on Sunday, August 18 at 2pm ET, in an event that will be open to fans in attendance at the inaugural Fanatics Fest NYC located at Javits Center.

"This is the first time Paul and Tyson will come face to face since the historic bout was rescheduled to Friday, November 15th, which will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX and streamed live on Netflix!"

But many boxing fans have vented their fury over the announcement, insisting the fight shouldn't be allowed to happen.

"Can't believe you lot are going ahead with this fight after Mike's illness which obviously proves he's not well enough to train," said one user.

A second said: "Jake surely can’t hide from the fact there is a 30 year age gap, health issues. Mike has the right to do what he pleases but Jake who meant to be going for a serious boxing career is wasting his time with these gimmick fights."

Another opined: "I won’t watch this, its a stupid circus show."

A fourth stated: "I still hate this fight man. I know you are both down but this is a lose/lose. I been rocking with Mike his whole career. No disrespect to either men involved, I just do not want to see this fight."

And a fifth said: "Embarrassing that this fight is even happening, but damn it, I gotta root for Mike."

Many are hoping Tyson can roll back the years when he returns to the ring.

However, not everybody is convinced that he'll be able to summon the magic of old to win the fight.

Paul's former sparring partner, Anthony Taylor, believes there's no chance Tyson will win - even claiming the boxing legend is like a 'lamb to the slaughter' as the showdown approaches.

"I’ve worked with Jake behind the scenes, and trust me, you haven’t seen what he’s capable of.

“Tyson is a lamb to a slaughter. I worry about a concussive ending because Jake is a real fighter now.

"I’ve known him for five years and he’s developed into a real fighter. When Tyson tires Jake will make Tyson pay.
