The two Americans will fight in Texas next Friday

Jake Paul has admitted he felt 'numb' when Mike Tyson was forced to pull out of their boxing match earlier in the year.

The two men had originally been due to face off on July 20. However, after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare up, their showdown was then pushed back.


Instead, the lucrative clash is now just eight days away. Millions of viewers from all over the world are expected to watch the action unfold, even if the showdown has been shrouded in controversy.

Paul, speaking in a documentary released by Netflix, has now opened up.

Jake Paul has admitted he felt 'numb' when Mike Tyson was forced to pull out of their fight earlier in the year.

The 27-year-old says he was devastated by Tyson's decision to withdraw, insisting it left him 'numb'.

And Paul also said that 'nobody' can tell Tyson what to do, with many figures queuing up to condemn the upcoming bout.

“When I received the news that he was out and not able to fight, I was just numb,” Paul said in the documentary.

“I was just like, ‘f**k.’ I'm the type of person who likes a schedule and likes to know what I’m doing.

"This just threw a wrench in all of that. There was nothing I could do, it was out of my control.

“Nobody can tell Mike Tyson what to do, and if he wants to fight me, of course I’m going to say yes.

"This is the opportunity of a lifetime to fight one of the two most famous boxers to ever live – Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.

“I look at Mike Tyson as a killer, so I never really expected something like this.”

After Tyson withdrew, Paul immediately announced that he'd be going up against Mike Perry.

The boxing star made light work of Perry, securing victory via knockout in the sixth round.

Tyson, meanwhile, recently said he feared he was going to die when he suffered his ulcer flare up.

"I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood," he said.

The incident, caused by a 2.5-inch bleeding ulcer, left Tyson hospitalised and 26 pounds lighter.

It also left the boxing legend questioning his mortality. He continued: "I asked the doctor, 'Am I going to die?'

"And she didn't say no. She said we have options, though. That's when I got nervous."

Tyson is, however, raring to go as his sensational boxing comeback creeps closer.

The veteran's last pro fight was back in 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride in Las Vegas.

Tyson did, however, face Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition back in 2020 - with that battle ending in a draw.
