The former boxer plans to celebrate the milestone in style

Floyd Mayweather is reportedly splashing out £4 million on an extravagant week-long birthday celebration in Miami, marking his 48th year with a series of lavish events.

The boxing legend's festivities kicked off on February 17 and will continue through until his birthday on February 24.


The American superstar has organised seven days of non-stop partying in South Beach, Miami, treating hundreds of guests to an array of exclusive celebrations, according to TMZ.

Mayweather's big birthday bonanza showcases the former champion's renowned flair for luxury entertainment.

The week-long celebration includes a diverse schedule of activities across Miami's most exclusive venues.

Beach parties feature prominently in the itinerary, alongside adventurous ATV tours for the guests.

Mayweather, an enthusiastic skater who owns Las Vegas' Skate Rock City, has included roller-skating sessions in the birthday programme.

The celebrations also feature bowling events for the party-goers.

A local mansion will host one of the main events, while a yacht party is also planned as part of the extravagant celebrations.

Mayweather has invited 400 of his closest family and friends to join the celebrations in Miami Beach.

The boxing icon has arranged luxury accommodation for his guests, putting them up in upmarket hotels throughout the area.

Taking to social media to announce the celebrations, Mayweather posted: "Come party with me for my birthday Miami!"

Mayweather, who amassed nearly £1 billion during his illustrious boxing career, officially retired in 2017 after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor.

However, the undefeated champion has continued to participate in exhibition matches against opponents from MMA, boxing and social media.

His most recent exhibition bout was against John Gotti III, grandson of America's most notorious mob boss, in August.

Speaking to Forbes about his ongoing exhibitions, Mayweather said: "In exhibitions, my body doesn't look like it did when I was competing at the highest level, but I never have a pot belly."

The 50-0 boxing legend reflected on his proudest achievements in a recent interview.

"My defense," Mayweather told Forbes when asked what made him most proud.

He added: "Being able to retire on my own terms."

The former champion emphasised the importance of his defensive style, noting: "A lot of fighters can barely walk or talk now. You got fighters that are competing right now that are a lot younger than I am that can barely walk and talk, so defense was very important."
