The two men have regularly fired shots at each other over the years

There's been a twist in Tyson Fury's rivalry with Anthony Joshua with the Gypsy King's old trainer now working with the Watford-born star, Eddie Hearn has revealed.

Ben Davison helped Fury return to the top of the heavyweight division, with the 35-year-old since establishing himself as one of the best boxers on the planet.

Fury was struggling prior to meeting the trainer, having had issues with alcohol and drugs.

His mental health was badly impacted but the Gypsy King responded by fighting his demons and securing memorable victories over Deontay Wilder.

Now, speaking to Boxing Social, Hearn has revealed Davison is now working with Joshua.

And that's particularly intriguing due to the impact he had on Fury earlier in the 35-year-old's career.

"Ben is a small part of the team for the last few fights, they get on very well," said Hearn.

"Whilst he is in the UK he will train with Ben and I think he’s very happy to do that.

"Derrick James at the moment remains the coach, happy with him.

"Couple of performances and building on that, no change in that respect.

"Ben has been working behind the scenes tactically with AJ, he’s a fantastic coach and I think AJ feels comfortable whilst he’s in the UK working with him."

Davison has since corrected Hearn, saying he's only been working with Joshua for the past few weeks.

The Briton doesn't currently have a fight lined up, having last beaten Robert Helenius back in August.

And Hearn would like Joshua to accept a fight with Ngannou, who is the talk of the boxing world following his recent showdown with Fury.

"I've not discussed it with AJ, but my advice to him would be to take that fight," said the 44-year-old.

"I think it's a massive fight and I think Joshua wins fairly comfortably."

Ngannou is, however, prioritising a rematch with Fury.

"First of all, it’s too soon," he said when asked about a potential bout with Joshua.

"Secondly, my focus, as boxing is concerned, is a rematch with Tyson.

"That’s the most important thing for me right now, everything else for boxing comes after."

Meanwhile, Joshua recently sat down for an interview with Louis Theroux.

And the 34-year-old revealed he was still trying to improve, despite entering the twilight years of his boxing career.

“Yeah, [money] plays a part, but I’m passionate. This is all I know, this is what I dedicate my life to," he said.

“Do I want to get myself to the championship? I would love to.
