The Red Bull F1 team boss put on a brave face at the Bahrain Grand Prix

GB News host Bev Turner has criticised Geri Halliwell after her display of public affection with under-fire husband Christian Horner.

The Red Bull F1 team principal put on a brave face at the Bahrain Grand Prix over the weekend as he continues to be mired in scandal.

He was cleared of any impropriety last week after an internal investigation but the conclusion was swiftly followed up by a tranche of alleged WhatsApp messages being leaked.

The Spice Girl, who was reportedly left ‘stunned’ and ‘humiliated’ after Thursday’s leak, stood alongside Horner over the race weekend in a show of support for her spouse.

Bev does not believe this was the right way forward for the pop star, admitting she would have preferred to have “drop kicked him from the highest building”.

She ranted: “All the leaked messages, I saw them and I put myself in her shoes.

“I thought that if I was the wife, and he was sending these messages, there was no confirmation that anything physical had happened between these two human beings.

“Did it cross a line? Was it inappropriate? Yes. Was there a sense that if she had gone around his hotel room, might he have engaged in something extramarital? Yes, one might speculate.

“The fact she came out, Geri Halliwell, the woman known for girl power, holding his hand on the grid.

“I would have said ‘no, sling your hook’.”

Sports reporter Paul Coyte waded in to add that the show of public affection “looked uncomfortable”.

On Wednesday, Horner was cleared to continue as Red Bull team principal following an internal probe into “inappropriate behaviour” by the F1 team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH. He has always denied the claims.

Horner continues to operate in his role as team principal and CEO, although it is understood there is considerable unease among the team’s plethora of sponsors and partners.

Horner said in a statement on Thursday: “I will not comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate I have always denied the allegations.

“I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way.

“It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister and it has concluded dismissing the complaint made.

“I remain fully focused on the start of the season.”
