Australia cricket players have mocked England following the recent Ashes series.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead but the hosts came roaring back to draw 2-2, with Stuart Broad bowing out on a high.

Tempers often flared up during the series, however.

And before the last day of the series at the Oval, England star Harry Brook said they'd consider a victory in the final Test to be a 'moral victory'.

He said at the time: “We were dominating the game [in the fourth test] last week weren’t we?

"So if the game had played out, I would like to think we would have won that.

"So if we can win this week, it almost can make it a moral victory.”

Yet Australia players have now stuck the knife into England and mocked those claims.

Mitchell Marsh, speaking on The Grade Cricketer, said: “I think any time you lose an Ashes series 5-0, it’s always tough to take.

"Them being the greatest side to ever play Test cricket, 5-0 was probably fair.”

Pat Cummins couldn't resist joining in, adding: “It was a thumping, morally.

"Yeah, you can’t come back from it. So yeah, it’s something we will work on in the nets, somehow. Take some philosophy books or something.”

And Mitchell Starc also mocked England for losing in the finals of the netball and Women's World Cup, too.

“It’s been a big couple of months for England, hasn’t it? Two Ashes series clean sweeps," he said.

"They won the netball. They’ve just won the FIFA World Cup.”

After England managed to draw the series many fans stayed behind to hail their heroes.

But Josh Hazlewood has claimed Australia supporters wouldn't have tolerated the result.

“I don’t think the crowd would hang around at all. I think they’d be out of here," he said confidently.

His words were then backed up by Scott Boland, who said: “I think we’d get crucified if it was 2-2 at home.”

Australia players also recently laughed at Jonny Bairstow for the way he handled his dismissal in the second Test.

The England star was run out by Alex Carey after straying out of his crease.

And Marnus Labuschagne revealed Bairstow refused to eat lunch after the incident, saying: "I was in the lunch room.

"Jonny was steaming, absolutely steaming. He walked in the lunch room and didn't have lunch.

"The Sky crew knew that Jonny was in there and they just replayed it on the screen.

"And as you do, everyone's watching. Obviously seeing us all watch, he's like 'are you guys happy with that?'

"David Warner's spitting out his chicken and goes 'yeah, very.' The only words said."
