The Gunners won 1-0 following a dramatic late winner from winger Gabriel Martinelli

Tensions ran high after Arsenal's win over Manchester City on Sunday, with players from Pep Guardiola's side reacting badly on the field.

And the bust-up involving the likes of Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland was down to a handshake snub.

Walker and Haaland were walking off the pitch when the former was offered a handshake by Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.

Jover had previously worked at City for two years between 2019 and 2021 before moving to north London.

However, Walker opted against the handshake which led to individuals from both sides becoming embroiled in a spat.

Footage from a fan on X shows Walker visibly annoyed and even squaring up to Jover after the defeat.

The argument continued into the tunnel yet, though City were riled, Phil Foden was spotted smiling as they walked inside.

Haaland supported his team-mate, while Jover was calmed down by Bukayo Saka - who missed the match due to injury.

Guardiola was quizzed on the incident after his side lost a third domestic match in a row.

The defeat to Arsenal had followed Premier League and Carabao Cup losses to Wolves and Newcastle.

However, Guardiola was in no mood to discuss the subject and shook his head for several seconds before saying: "I know what happened but I won't say anything. They know it."

Arsenal had lost their last 12 league matches against City.

But they're now above their rivals in the table in the wake of Martinelli's heroics at the death.

The Brazil international was initially named on the bench for the match at the Emirates, having only just recovered from injury.

Yet after coming on at half time he made a huge impact by scoring the only goal of the game.

Reacting to the victory, Martinelli insisted it was a team effort and each and every Arsenal player had played their role.

"I am not the man," he said. "I think everyone has a part in this victory.

"I scored the goal but it was the whole team and the staff and everyone. I am happy and the team is too.

"After that moment [my injury], I just tried to give my best to my recovery and try to be ready for the next game.

"Luckily it was for this game and I helped the team. I am happy with my goal and fitness.

"It gives more confidence [to us]. We know our potential and how tough it is to play against them.

"Today we beat them and it gives us more confidence to kick on."

There was also another ugly incident during the match - which took place in the stands.

Samir Nasri, who played for both clubs, was sitting and watching the game before then being attacked by a supporter.
