Zara Tindall has suffered a blow as the royal faces a major career setback due to a new announcement.

Princess Anne’s daughter's dreams of returning to the Olympics are dashed after it was confirmed she was left off Team GB's Paris squad.

Zara, 43, will not be representing Team GB at the 2024 Paris Olympics as an equestrian, it has been confirmed.

The mother-of-three won a silver medal in Team Eventing at the 2012 London Olympics, which was awarded to her by her mother, the Princess Royal.

Mike Tindall's wife confirmed to Vogue Australia in 2022 that she was training for a spot in the Paris 2024 squad to earn a gold medal, which she has yet to win.

Reporter Matthew Benns, who interviewed the 43-year-old, wrote: "Tindall is back in training and working on having the right horse for a run at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

"She has fewer horses than in 2012 and now has to fit her training in around a busy schedule as a mother of three. She says having horses in stables at home makes things easier.

"Her round at Gatcombe gave both her and the horse a 'good education'."

However, the Eventing Team representing the UK in the Paris 2024 Games will be Rosalind Canter, Laura Collett, Tom McEwen, and Yasmin Ingham.

It marks the fifth time Zara has been left off the Team GB Olympic squad.

She missed the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games because of injuries to her horse.

In 2016, Zara qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics but was left off the final squad due to more concerns over her horse’s fitness.

Five years later, Zara gave birth to her third child, Lucas Tindall, so was unable to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which took place in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Zara's parents are also pro-equestrians and former Olympians.

Princess Anne competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, which saw the royal falling off her horse Goodwill and cracking a vertebrae.

Meanwhile, Zara’s dad Captain Mark Phillips won gold medals at the 1972 Munich Games and 1988 Seoul Games in Team Eventing.
