The Royal Family will be heading to Balmoral in Aberdeenshire this summer
Zara and Mike Tindall are set to "decline a summer holiday with King Charles", according to royal sources.
The mother-of-three is understood to have applied to compete at the Wellington International Horse Trials, which take place at the same time as the Royal Family's annual meeting at Balmoral.
Like most members of the Royal Family, Mike and Zara have been invited to join King Charles at Balmoral this summer.
However, their attendance is in doubt after the King's niece could be competing in the Wellington International Horse Trials.
A source claimed that Zara applied to compete at the event, taking place between August 24 and August 26 in Hampshire.
The Royal Family are planning their annual holiday at Balmoral in Scotland on the same bank holiday weekend.
The source added that King Charles would love Mike, Zara and their three children to join the family in Aberdeenshire.
They told The Express: "Charles really wants Zara and the family to join him on the last Sunday in August for the bank holiday service, but understands that her horse competitions are extremely important to her.
"Charles is hoping that they [the Tindalls] will be able to come up the week earlier to muck in with the rest of the family so that everyone can enjoy the picnics and walks planned on the estate.
"Mia, Lena and Lucas get on amazingly well with George, Charlotte and Louis.
"There will be lots of children there this year so they are planning a mixture of adult and junior events to keep everyone entertained."
GB News has approached a representative of the Tindalls for comment.
