Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield hit out at the Netflix drama

The Crown is under fire again for a storyline relating to Princess Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton.

Speaking on GB News, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield hit out at Netflix for the portrayal of her apparent influence over the early stages of her daughter’s relationship with Prince William.

Lambasting it as a “crock of you know what”, Schofield said it was her least favourite part of the drama.

Despite her misgivings, she added that she felt the Netflix show did not damage the royal brand.

“Carole Middleton scheming to get Kate closer to William is the biggest crock of you know what”, she told Patrick Christys.

“That never happened. That’s my least favourite part.”

It comes as viewers likened Carole Middleton to Kris Jenner, a comparison that Schofield does not get on board with.

“Kris [Jenner] has got a mean streak in her that I just don’t think Carole is capable of”, she said.

The latest series of The Crown depicted the early stages of Kate and William’s relationship, but faced questions over its accuracy.

Kate is shown to have met Princess Diana in a scene, something that never took place.

Speaking in 2011 after his royal wedding to Kate, William remarked that he was “very sad” about his mother never getting the chance to meet Kate.

Part one of the Netflix series, released on November 16, explored the events surrounding the death of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed, the son of business tycoon Mohamed Al Fayed.

The Crown is a fictionalised dramatisation of the royal family which first hit TV screens in 2016 and has since been nominated for multiple awards including Baftas and Emmys.

Kate has shared memories of her early life in recent days with a picture of herself as a child.

The picture, taken in 1983, shows a rosy-cheeked Kate, aged almost two, sitting at the Christmas dinner table.

It was released on social media by Kensington Palace after Kate hosted her Together At Christmas event at Westminster Abbey earlier this month, welcoming her family, members of the monarchy and inspiring individuals in celebration of those supporting children and families.
