The delayed appearance by the SNP's Shona Robison has sparked a backlash against the party
The SNP's "rude" treatment of Princess Anne "drives another nail into the coffin" of Humza Yousaf's party, according to a royal commentator.
The Princess Royal was kept waiting 40 minutes by the SNP Deputy First Minister on a recent engagement.
The royal was in Scotland to open the Aberdeen South Harbour, and the delayed appearance by Shona Robison has sparked a backlash against the party.
Robison, the deputy to First Minister Humza Yousaf, blamed the wait on "urgent government business", but royal commentator Tom Bower disputed this claim during an interview on GB News.
He told Dan Wootton Tonight: "I think the SNP is clearly republican, they stated it. Yousaf said himself he wanted the monarchy abolished.
"His real problem is, the Scots don't want the monarchy abolished. The Scots, in majority, are in favour of the monarchy."
The royal commentator claimed that the Deputy First Minister was "awful" to the Princess Royal, 73.
Bower explained: "But what's awful is, that Princess Anne is such a hardworking, decent woman.

"She is really such a trooper for the Royal Family and for Britain as well.
"That to have left her waiting all that time was so rude, so unnecessary."
The author of royal book Revenge shared his thoughts on Robison blaming her delay on "urgent government business".
Bower suggested: "The idea that the deputy leader was so busy that she couldn't make it in time because of affairs of state!

"I mean, what affairs of state are there in Scotland that means you don't arrive on time?
"It drives another nail into the coffin of the SNP. It shows that they really are a declining force."
The commentator argued that the Royal Family are a better representation of Scotland than the SNP.
Bower opined: "They really are tainted, and I'm sure the great Scottish people will see that as another reason not to vote for the SNP because, in the end, the Royal Family embraces their values much more than the SNP does."
