The jam contains just four ingredients

Meghan Markle has finally launched her much-anticipated As Ever product line, selling out in under an hour after its release on Wednesday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, had been teasing the launch of the products since April 2024, including her infamous jar of spread, which were packaged in special keepsake containers.

In April 2024, she first sent just 50 jars to her famous friends, including Kris Jenner, when the brand was still called American Riviera Orchard.

According to the As Ever website, the jam contains just four ingredients: raspberries, organic pure cane sugar, organic lemon juice concentrate, and fruit pectin.

Experts have weighed in on whether the spread is as healthy and homemade as Meghan implies.

Food scientist and nutritionist Sarah Bond told the Daily Mail that Meghan's jam is "nutritionally clean" with a "classic homemade jam formula".

She noted it "avoids preservatives, colorants, or artificial sweeteners" unlike many commercial alternatives.

Bond explained: "Many store-bought jams use high fructose corn syrup to boost flavour and shelf life. Meghan's version uses organic cane sugar, which, while still sugar, is less processed and has a bit of a more complex flavour."

Registered dietitian nutritionist Sammi Haber Brondo agreed, noting the jam has a "more wholesome ingredient list" than many competitors.

Brondo told the Daily Mail: "Other brands often add corn syrup for sweetness or use fruit juice instead of using the whole fruit."

"By using real raspberries, this spread should retain some of the fibre, vitamin C, and other nutrients that raspberries have."

Bond suggested the jam could be elevated with additions like chia seeds for omega-3 benefits, or vanilla bean and ginger for enhanced flavour.

However, she cautioned that moderation is key as the American Heart Association recommends women consume no more than six teaspoons of sugar daily.

Meghan's product launch comes just a month after her Netflix home entertainment show premiered.

The programme, which featured celebrity guests including Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer, has already been renewed for a second season.
