Princess Kate appeared to be on the brink of tears just moments before awarding the Wimbledon trophy to Markéta Vondrousova.

Czech Republic's Vondrousova defeated Ons Jabeur in straight sets to win her first Wimbledon title.

Jabeur, the favourite ahead of the contest, was left devastated by the loss and burst into tears following the conclusion of the final.

The Tunisian tennis star also suffered defeat in the women's singles final at Wimbledon in 2022.

The Princess of Wales looked to be wiping away tears on Saturday, minutes before she presenting Vondrousova with the Wimbledon trophy, according to the Mail.

On Sunday, Princess Kate admitted that the decision to not bring Prince Louis to Wimbledon left the young royal "very upset".

The Prince and Princess of Wales were joined at Wimbledon by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The royal children looked gripped by the compelling men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Princess Charlotte looked particularly pleased as she cheered when Alcaraz secured his first Wimbledon title in the fifth set of the final.

The Princess of Wales said regarding her children attending Wimbledon "It’s Charlotte’s first time, George came last year.”

"They’ve been eagerly watching."

She added that Charlotte was still "getting to grips with the scoring".

The royal also told Joel, a 16-year-old ball boy, that Louis has been practising being a ball boy.

Joel told the PA: "He (Louis) tries to practise standing and staying serious like us.

"He tries to practise the stands and how we stand at the back of the court and next to the players."
