The Prince of Wales has revealed that his Earthshot Prize will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil later this year.
David Beckham, a friend of the Prince of Wales, shared his delight at the choice, saying: "I am so, so excited," and referring to Brazil as "where nature and culture go hand-in-hand."
The prestigious global environmental prize will bring its annual, multi-day celebration to South America for the first time.

The announcement was shared in a video featuring Prince William alongside Earthshot Prize Trustees Dame Christiana Figueres and Dame Jacinda Ardern.
Earthshot Prize Council Members Cate Blanchett and Nemonte Nenquimo also appeared in the announcement.
Several global ambassadors and celebrities who have supported the Prize were featured, including Robert Irwin, Nomzamo Mbatha, Billy Porter, David Beckham, Hannah Waddingham and Heidi Klum.

The celebration will culminate in the annual awards ceremony, where five global solutions will each receive £1 million to support their continued growth.

Since its inception, the Prize has identified over 5,300 emerging environmental innovations from 141 countries.
It has recognised and supported 60 innovators through its Fellowship Programme.
The Prize has awarded £20 million to winners to help scale their solutions.
This year's event builds on previous ceremonies held in London, Boston, Singapore, and Cape Town.
