Netflix's The Crown has sparked a furious backlash from royal fans, after its decision to include Princess Diana's ghost in the final series of the programme was labelled "sickening".
Elizabeth Debicki, who portrays Diana, will appear after her death to have an emotional reconciliation with then-Prince Charles, as played by Dominic West.
She will also pay a visit to Queen Elizabeth II, as played by Imelda Staunton, to discuss her funeral arrangements, according to The Mail.
A Netflix source has defended their decision by claiming that the appearances of Debicki as Diana after her death were "visualisations of innermost thoughts".

Although Buckingham Palace has never made an official statement regarding The Crown, a senior royal source told The Telegraph that the programme is "a drama, not a documentary" before season five aired last year.
The news about Diana's ghost appearing in the next series, which will air next month, has sparked fury among royal fans.
One took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say: "Why does anyone watch the rubbish that is #TheCrown?
"With writers and producers who come up with this cringe-fest?! A 10-year-old could do better than this tripe…"

Another wrote: "Oh my gosh… can't they leave this woman alone already?"
A different royal watcher commented: "Thank goodness I will not be watching it, even more so if that's the sort of rubbish added as entertainment."
"How sickening! Of course, I knew from the last two years that @TheCrownNetflix's producers had no morals or taste at all," one fan said.
The idea was branded "absolutely awful" by a social media user, who added: "I can't even. People think this is a documentary already - this is going to be crazy!"

An admirer of the late Princess of Wales took to X to ask: "Why is Diana coming off as this crazy person these days?
"Can't people give her peace and just leave her as be? Oh wait, yes money to be made."
One royal watcher branded The Crown "so far off the mark" with a "tasteless and disgraceful team behind the series".
Another fan pointed out the fact that the Prince of Wales will likely be upset at the upcoming Netflix scenes involving his mother, saying: "Do you ever feel bad for Prince William? I can’t imagine how this affects his mental health."
