Princess Kate's photoshop controversy has inadvertently “fed the masses” who are now hungry for more gossip from the royal establishment, according to a US commentator.
Royal expert Lee Cohen joined Nana Akua on GBN America to call for a return to the “dignified” days of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who would often not speak out on royal news.
It comes as the future Queen finds herself at the centre of controversy caused by the first photo of her since abdominal surgery.
The photo failed to quash speculation about the Princess's health after eagle-eyed royal fans spotted editing mistakes in the image.
Taking to social media, Princess Kate confirmed that she was the one who had edited the photo and apologised for any "confusion" caused by the mistakes.
“I believe the Royal Family have a model”, said Cohen.
“A model set by the late Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as to how to handle public situations and I think they would all be best served by taking the dignified road that Queen Elizabeth showed.”
Cohen showed sympathy for the Princess of Wales, praising her “dignified” approach.

He told GBN America: "Can we not return to the days of never complain, never explain?
The world wants a Royal Family that soars above the chatter, that sits above politics and gossip and not feeds them.
"I'm not blaming the Princess of Wales she is a model of dignity and discretion. She needs to be left in peace.
"They already came out with the statement that the princess had her surgery.

"Well, we're not there yet, so everything seems to be progressing well.
"I don't believe we need to feed this chatter anymore because they said it, and let's just let her recover in peace."
The Princess of Wales is expected to return to her royal duties after Easter.
