Carole Malone has slammed the Duke of Sussex for going to a movie premiere in Jamaica

Carole Malone has criticised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's trip to Jamaica, branding it a "deliberate two fingers up to the Royal Family".

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in attendance at the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love this week, which took place in Kingston, Jamaica.

The Daily Express columnist condemned their decision, commenting: "They have posed alongside Jamaica's Prime Minister, a guy called Andrew Holness.

"Andrew Holness has made clear that he wants Jamaica separated from the Commonwealth, from Britain. He wants to break free.

"So much so that he's going to have a referendum later this year to ask the Jamaican people if they want to be separate.

"Harry knows full well the late Queen how much loved the Commonwealth and what he's doing is like him sticking two fingers up at the palace.

"He is just showing his disdain for the institution by posing alongside someone who holds the monarchy in the Commonwealth in similar disdain.

"The really shocking thing is that there is talk that Jamaica wants to be separated from us because they perceive Britain now to be a racist country.

"Now that would fit in very well with the Meghan agenda, who also thinks Britain is a racist country.

"But she particularly thinks that the monarchy is racist and that the Royal Family themselves are racist. So on every level, this is an insult."

Journalist Nichi Hodgson waded in on the discussion to say: "I do think it was deliberate, but I slightly disagree with Carole because I think what's done it for Jamaica with the Commonwealth is the Windrush Scandal.

"I think so many people have just thought what was that for? I came here, I worked hard to pay my taxes to serve this country. And then Britain has said we don't respect your right to stay in this country.

"You know, Jamaica has been independent since 1961.

"So there's been a long time for people to sort of think, why do we still have a British head of state?

"And King Charles himself knows that popularity is kind of waning. I think it's natural that we just part ways from them.

Holness has been vocal about wanting his country to cut ties with the British monarchy. In 2022, he stated Jamaica would be "fulfilling its destiny" by gaining independence.
