The Queen officially opened a new Healing Garden today

The Queen visited the Asian Women's Resource Centre (AWRC) to mark its 45th anniversary, highlighting the charity's vital work supporting women and children from Black, Minority and Ethnic backgrounds.

The London-based organisation specialises in helping those affected by domestic abuse, forced marriage, and honour-based or faith-based abuse.

During her visit, Her Majesty officially opened the centre's new Healing Garden, designed as a space for reflection and rejuvenation for women, staff and the wider community.

The Queen toured the newly refurbished centre, where she met with staff, volunteers and trustees who support the organisation's mission.

Her Majesty spent time with survivors of domestic abuse who have received support from AWRC, joining them in an arts activity session designed to help process trauma.

The engagement reflects the Queen's ongoing dedication to breaking the taboo around domestic abuse through her work with survivors and support organisations.

Based in the London Borough of Brent, AWRC works across the capital to empower BME women and their children through advice, advocacy and practical support.

The grassroots charity specialises in addressing unique intersectional cultural and systemic barriers faced by South Asian women, ensuring they have access to trauma-informed support.

Through workshops and community outreach, AWRC helps women build supportive networks and regain control of their lives.

The Queen's commitment to domestic abuse causes was recently highlighted in an ITV documentary, "Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors," which aired last November.

The film followed Her Majesty's year-long work with survivors and charities as they tackled violence against women.

Queen Camilla rubbed shoulders with James Corden at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening.
