Mary had already become a sartorial icon as the Danish Crown Princess.
The 51-year-old, who was born in Australia, will now have access to exquisite jewels since she is becoming Queen.
One such jewellery set Mary will inherit is the Crown Emerald Parure.
It was made in 1840 and includes a tiara, necklace, break-away brooch that may be worn in multiple smaller pieces, and a set of earrings that are all set with diamonds and emeralds.
Queen Margrethe wore it many times for formal events, most notably the New Year's Reception.
Another jewellery set Mary will inherit is the Crown Pearl and Ruby Parure.
Created in 1842, this parure comes with an oversized pearl necklace, earrings with rubies and pearls, and a big brooch with rubies and pearls that may be worn in several ways.
On occasion, Queen Margrethe wore the brooch that was fastened to the necklace.
