Princess Kate will join Prince William and their children at the Royal Family’s summer holiday at Balmoral in August.

The Firm will be making their way to Scotland next month for the annual week-long vacation, where they will spend family time together in the Highlands.

The royals are expected to arrive at the castle mid-August, after the estate closes down to the public on August 4.

A source told The Daily Express: “William and Kate will be joining the Royal Family at Balmoral.

“It will be a rather low key affair this year where everyone will meet to just relax and unwind.”

Many of Kate’s summer plans are currently up in the air as she undergoes treatment for cancer and has stepped back from all royal duties as she recovers.

She made her first public appearance in over a month over the weekend as she attended the Wimbledon men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. Prior to that, she made her long-awaited return to public facing duties on June 15, when she attended Trooping the Colour.

Leading royal expert Jennie Bond said that the trip to Balmoral will be of particularly high significance to the Princess of Wales, following an “incredibly difficult few months”.

Talking to OK! last week before Kate’s attendance was confirmed, she said: “It's been one heck of a year for the Royal Family so far and nothing would please the King more than to have his close family gathered together in the peace of Balmoral for a time to take stock together, mark the passing of an incredibly difficult few months and look to the future.

“Like Catherine herself has said, cancer treatment brings with it a large measure of uncertainty and that must extend to whether she is able to spend part of the summer holidays at Balmoral. If she does go, I'm sure the whole family will want to surround her with love, support and renewed strength.

“She, meanwhile, will want to make the summer months as fun and carefree for the children as she possibly can after everything she's been through.”

The stunning Scottish landscape was where William and Kate's romance flourished. It also holds significance for William as it is the location where he was told of his mother’s death. The late Queen Elizabeth also died there in 2022.

Whilst Kate is expected to be in attendance at the annual trip, two other family remembers are likely to remain noticeably absent.

Rumours have been circulating that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could join in with the fun and bring their children along too to help build a bond across the families.

However, a source close to the Sussexes told The Daily Express that it is unlikely, despite the fact the King wants to forge a relationship with Archie and Lilibet.

The source said: “Charles really does want to build a better relationship with Archie and Lili and spend quality time with them. So it's possible that the Sussexes might go alone at the end of the summer just before the King returns to London, but it's highly unlikely given the current tensions.”
