Princess Eugenie has been lined up for a key role as she maintains ties with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the rest of the Royal Family, according to a royal commentator.
The princess is the closest member of the monarchy to the Sussexes and her importance may grow even further after Harry and Meghan purchased a property in Portugal.
Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, split their time between Portugal and the UK.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond said: "Eugenie undoubtedly does have something of a challenge on her hands to maintain good relationships with both Harry and Meghan - and the rest of the Royal Family.

"But I think the King is probably happy that Harry still has at least one royal cousin he clearly trusts, and presumably wants to see more of.
"The family are all so busy that they don’t really see that much of one another."
She added: "However, I think it’s a positive thing that Charles does have someone he can quietly ask about Harry‘s well-being if he is so inclined and Harry can presumably gauge the mood of the family via Eugenie.
"Any reconciliation – which at this stage still seems unlikely – has to start somewhere and with someone and that person could possibly be Eugenie… but don’t hold your breath."

Last week, Royal commentator, Christopher Andersen claimed Princess Eugenie has managed to maintain a positive relationship with her uncle King Charles despite her ties with the Sussexes.

Andersen said: "The number of people inside the Royal Family who are willing to proclaim their friendship for Harry and Meghan has dwindled to practically nothing.
"No one wants to run afoul of the King and Prince William – it's that simple.
"Somehow Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie, who has a home in Portugal, has been able to straddle the fence – to remain in the King's good graces but also not turn her back on the Sussexes.
"Obviously, Harry and Meghan are very grateful for the loyalty Eugenie has shown."
