Princess Eugenie has released a video where she recalls meeting a nurse who had been trafficked to the UK.
In an Instagram video for her charity, The Anti-Slavery Collective, the princess talks about a trafficked woman to the UK being tricked into working for little money in order to pay back a debt – a term referred to as “debt bondage.”
The royal, 33, was joined by co-founder of the organisation, Julia de Boinville in the video.
Princess Eugenie explained: “She was actually told when she came here ‘oh, you're meant to have a car.’

“And she didn't have a car so they said to her, ‘well we're going to take money from your wages to pay back the money you owe us for the car’.”
Eugenie went on to describe how the woman was made to work 23 out of 24 hours of the day “driving around” to pay off her traffickers.
Boinville warned: “This world of debt bondage especially in the world of carers is happening more and more in the UK.
“And this particular survivor was lucky enough to be found by Thames Valley Police and she's been working with a social worker to regain control of her life and start working here in the UK.

The Anti-Slavery Collective works with survivors of modern slavery, partner organisations and governments to “challenge and change the systems that enable modern slavery to exist, in whatever form-including human trafficking, child slavery and forced labour.”
