The Princess shared a message about the importance of protecting the environment

Princess Eugenie has shared an extraordinary photo and issued a statement ahead of an important day.

Eugenie, 34, posted a photo on her Instagram page of her paddle-boarding through a lake, whilst a beautiful sunset peaks over a hill and illuminates both the water and the Princess.

In the striking photo, the 34-year-old appears to be wearing a summer dress as she strides through the water.

She has also added a love hands emoji to the picture to share with her 1.8million followers.

The photo came ahead of a special day in the Princess’ calendar which she holds close to her heart.

June 8 marks World Oceans Day, a poignant day for the 34-year-old as she is an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation.

She told her followers: “Ahead of World Oceans Day I'm reflecting on some of the beautiful moments the Ocean can give us. World Oceans Day - 8th June.”

Alongside these words, the Princess shared a video of whales swimming in the blue ocean.

A second video taken on board a boat captures the waves of the ocean coupled with a beautiful blue sky, whilst the Princess continued her message on the importance of protecting our seas.

She said: “I'm also proud to be an ambassador. Blue Marine Foundation is a charity dedicated to restoring the ocean to health by addressing overfishing, one of the world's biggest environmental problems. This is a short video I took when I spent time with them.”

Alongside her work with the Blue Marine Foundation, the Princess is also a patron to many other charities.

In 2017, Eugenie co-founded The Anti-Slavery Collective with her friend Julia De Boinville in an attempt to find solutions to tackle modern slavery.

Last year, the Princess launched the podcast Floodlight to promote the charity’s causes.

Former Prime Minister, Theresa May, was the first guest to appear on the podcast due to her political history of fighting against modern slavery.

Both Eugenie and her sister Beatrice are not working members of the Royal Family.

In March, a royal commentator claimed that royal charities are “crying out” for the York Princesses to step up.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier said: “Many organisations and charities are crying out for a royal patron and would welcome them. They already have 30 or so between them so why not a few more?

“They are both pleasant intelligent women who are now wives and mothers with experience of life.

“Beatrice and Eugenie are grandchildren of the late Queen and as such would get a lot of respect from the public.”
