Princess Eugenie has shared a heartfelt tribute to actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who has died aged 39.

The Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress was a close friend of the royal.


Trachtenberg was found dead in her apartment on Wednesday.

The actress formed a close bond with the late Queen's granddaughter during Eugenie's time living in New York.

Taking to Instagram, Eugenie wrote: "Goodbye special friend. You are so loved and missed.

"Thank you for so many memories of laughter and fun. You were so thoughtful and generous and sooo funny.

"My favourite was listening to you order food, always done with precision so you got exactly what we all wanted.

"I'm thinking of you up there friend, of your spirit that was so bright and your joy you brought to so many."

The pair had been friends for over a decade before Trachtenberg's passing.

Princess Eugenie and actress Michelle Trachtenberg's friendship first came to public attention in December 2013.

The pair were spotted sitting side-by-side at Madison Square Garden and appeared deep in concentration whilst watching a basketball game together.

Their friendship continued to blossom, with the pair reuniting in 2016 at the Hauser & Wirth art gallery in downtown LA.

Trachtenberg shared a sweet photograph on Instagram of the outing.

The actress is understood to have died of natural causes.
