Princess Eugenie’s reputation as an activist has "not been tarnished", despite the recent Prince Andrew accusations, a royal commentator has claimed.

It comes as the Duke of York was named as one of the high-profile figures in court documents relating to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew has previously denied any wrongdoing, and Buckingham Palace has said the allegations are “categorically untrue”.

His daughter, Princess Eugenie, co-founded the Anti-Slavery Collective in 2017 alongside her good friend Julia De Boinville, which attempts to tackle modern-day slavery.

Eugenie, 33, also runs a podcast titled Floodlight where she speaks to experts on how to tackle the global issue.

Royal author Gareth Russell spoke exclusively to GB News, who suggested that royal fans "cannot blame" Eugenie for being associated with Prince Andrew.

He claimed: "A lot of people are aware that you can't blame Princess Eugenie for her father.

"Of course, there is an understanding that her father had an extremely close relationship with someone who has been indicted and labelled a human trafficker in the form of Jeffrey Epstein.

"And of course, Princess Eugenie, along with her sister, both seem to be intensely loyal to their father.

"That being said, whilst I don't think it has tarnished her reputation in a lot of people's eyes, it has caused some raised eyebrows about the timing of some of her announcements and her broadcasts.

"They have come close, as one of them did, the day after further revelations about Andrew's links to Epstein.

"So there have been accusations of her being tone-deaf, but I don't think in the long term it will necessarily tarnish her reputation.

"But it will be something, unfortunately, that her causes will have to compete within the headlines."

The royal author added that it would be a "shame" if Eugenie's hard work as an activist was "tarnished" because of the accusations directed towards her father.

Russell suggested: "Princess Eugenie has worked immensely hard on what is a very important cause. And it would be a shame if her father's notoriety is allowed to distract and detract from that.

"But the problem comes when Prince Andrew insists on walking the public route to the Christmas morning service and going over the photographer's bank and the crowd, and therefore will generate more headlines that his daughters' causes will be associated with unfortunately."

GB News has approached Princess Eugenie and the Duke of York for comment.
