The nine-year-old delighted fans when she joined members of the Royal Family

Princess Charlotte wore a necklace designed by Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend in a surprise move.

The Royal Family stepped out on the Sandringham Estate on Christmas Day, including Princess Kate, Prince William and their three children.

Charlotte, nine, donned a tartan coat, which complemented the Princess of Wales's scarf, made of the same material.

She also accessorised with a stunning ruby necklace.

The design was, in fact, designed by Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, as originally reported in The Mail.

The £1,500 necklace was previously available from Davy's jewellery brand AYA.

Davy founded the brand in 2016, and each piece is inspired by African designs.

The 18-karat gold designs each feature ethically sourced gemstones from across the continent.

Speaking about her brand, Davy said: "AYA was born out of my love for Africa, for its people and my fascination with its gemstones."

The Duke of Sussex travelled to Cape Town during his gap year in 2004 where he met Davy, originally from Zimbabwe.

Davy attended several royal events alongside Prince Harry, including the Concert for Diana in 2007 and Princess Kate's wedding in 2011.

The relationship came to an end that year, with Davy admitting that she struggled with notoriety and paparazzi.

Harry wrote about Davy in Spare, his 2023 autobiography, stating: "I cherished Chels's carefree and authentic spirit.

"She never worried about what other people thought.

"She wore short skirts and high boots, danced with abandon, drank as much tequila as I did, and I cherished all those things about her... but I couldn't help worrying how Granny might feel about them."

The Duke of Sussex added: "And the last thing I wanted was for Chels to change and accommodate them... I [didn't] know if Chels could handle it."
