Princess Charlene steps out just one day after 'snubbing' event with Prince Albert

The royal spoke about her former Olympic swimming career as she was honoured by the Special Olympics Monaco.

Charlene, 46, attended the opening of the "European Swim Meeting", named after the Princess of Monaco.

The royal's outing came just 24 hours after her husband, Prince Albert, travelled to New York for the Princess Grace Awards.

Despite attending many times in the past, even as recently as 2022, Charlene did not join her husband for the Stateside visit.

Instead, Albert, 66, was joined by his daughter Jazmin Grimaldi on the red carpet.

The Princess Grace Awards are named after Grace Kelly, the late mother of Prince Albert.

Princess Charlene, who forged a successful career as an Olympic swimmer before retiring in 2007, stayed in Monaco during the awards show as she had to attend an engagement the following day.

Swimming was how the royal came to meet her husband Prince Albert in 2000.

Charlene previously told Vanity Fair: "After seeing me swim, Albert asked my management for permission to take me out."

Princess Charlene wore high-waisted skinny jeans on Saturday, which she paired with a white shirt and tweed jacket for her poolside appearance.

The mother-of-two, who is growing out her blonde pixie cut, swept her golden locks into a plait.

Royal fans flocked to the Palais Princier's official Instagram to comment on the royal's engagement.

"An extremely empathetic woman, a lady with a big heart, wonderful in every sense," cheered one fan.

A second fan added: "What a lovely moment. Princess Charlene looking beautiful."
