  • Have your say and comment now: Should Beatrice and Eugenie become working members of the Royal Family?

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie "may not want" to be working royals amid the Royal Family crisis, a royal historian exclusively told GB News.

King Charles and Princess Kate both temporarily stepped back from royal duties earlier this year after their various health concerns.

This has led many royal commentators to predict that the King could enlist Prince Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, as working royals.

The King has been diagnosed with a "form of cancer", while Kate, 42, underwent "planned abdominal surgery" in January and is now resting at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

Marlene Koenig, a royal historian, has argued that it is unlikely that Beatrice and Eugenie will become working royals.

In an exclusive interview with GB News, Koenig claimed: "This is unlikely.

"The princesses have their own careers and families."

Princess Eugenie, 33, tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank in 2018, and they have two children, August, three, and eight-month-old Ernest.

The couple lives in Portugal where Brooksbank works in marketing, sales and promotion for property developer Michael Meldman's Discovery Land Company.

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice, 35, works as the Vice President at Afiniti, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020 and they share a two-year-old daughter Sienna.

Koenig argued that the York Princess "may not want to be working royals."

She added: "They have known since the late 1990s that they would not become working royals.

"This was due to a decision made by the then Way Ahead group, which included senior royals and other officials."

Neither of Beatrice and Eugenie's parents are working royals, as Prince Andrew stepped down permanently in 2019 after his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein was publicly discussed during his Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis.

Sarah Ferguson, Andrew's ex-wife, quit royal duties in 1996 after her divorce was finalised.
