Sarah Ferguson opened up on Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s support after her cancer diagnosis.

The Duchess of York spoke about the loving nature of her two daughters after being diagnosed with cancer during a recent interview.

Sarah Ferguson was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, only six months after she was treated for breast cancer.

The duchess said: “They are brilliant mothers and have built wonderful family units.

“They also support me through thick and thin, not least my recent illness. We call each other 'the tripod' because we prop each other up, come what may.”

While Ferguson was undergoing reconstructive breast surgery last year, several moles were removed from her body.

Tests which came through just after Christmas revealed one mole was malignant.

Fergie told Hello!: “I couldn't be prouder of Beatrice and Eugenie and the strong, independent young women they have become - in fact, they are my proudest achievement.

“They both work for a living and have carved out successful careers but also dedicate a great deal of time to charity work.”

On Sunday, the duchess sent a poignant message on social media amid her ongoing cancer treatment.

She posted on Instagram: “Today on #WorldHealthDay, I would like to remind anyone who may be reading this to check in with yourself.

“Check in on your state of mind and check in on your body. Go to your routine health check.

“Take that walk. Read a book. Your body and mind are a priority. Make sure to show them love.”

The duchess has been an advocate for cancer awareness following her diagnosis and uses social media to encourage people to get checked.

Following her first cancer diagnosis, the Duchess of York told PEOPLE that Beatrice and Eugenie “are my wholehearted cheerleaders, my devoted champions and my soulmates, and they have been as supportive as can be, as they always are.”

Princess Eugenie shares two boys, August and Ernest, with her husband Jack Brooksbank.
