The daughters of the Duke of York usually spend Christmas at the Sandringham Estate with the Royal Family

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have pulled out of spending Christmas with King Charles and the Royal Family at Sandringham Estate amid Prince Andrew's "Chinese Spy" scandal, according to new claims in the Mail.

The Princesses of York are believed to be spending the day with their respective husbands' families, amid the current controversy surrounding Prince Andrew.

It follows Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's voluntary decision to give the annual celebrations, including the Christmas day walk to St Mary Magdalene Church in Norfolk, a miss.

Eugenie and Beatrice reportedly made the decision having not had the chance to spend Christmas with their in-laws for several years.

Beatrice is married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and the couple share a three-year-old daughter named Sienna.

Edoardo has a eight year old son, Christopher Woolf (Wolfie), from his previous relationship to Dara Huang.

Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie is married to Jack Brooksbank, and the couple share two sons, August, three, and Ernest, one.

The couple split their time between the UK and their home in Portugal, due to Jack's work in marketing, sales and promotion for property developer Michael Meldman's Discovery Land Company in Portugal.

The Princesses of York are not working royals, but have spent every Christmas with the Royal Family since their childhood, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is believed their parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, are likely to remain at Royal Lodge.

It is understood that King Charles did not want to ban his brother from attending the festivities at Sandringham.

However, the monarch hoped his might "do the decent thing" and decide to stay away in light of the growing spy scandal, according to The Mail.

Alleged Chinese spy Yang Tengbo, previously known as H6 for legal reasons, forged links with the Duke of York and mixed with other British establishment figures.

Yang has since insisted he has “done nothing wrong or unlawful”.

The businessman added that it was “entirely untrue” to claim he was involved in espionage and said he was a victim of a “political climate” which had seen a rise in tensions between the UK and China.

The 50-year-old became a “close” confidant of the Duke of York and has also been pictured with former prime ministers Lord David Cameron and Baroness Theresa May.
