Princess Beatrice is set to "distance herself from Prince Andrew" amid a "mortifying" scandal, insiders have claimed.

Last week, it was confirmed that the Duke of York has found the money to stay at his home, Royal Lodge, after he was told earlier this year that he would have to vacate.

Andrew, 64, has long hoped to leave Royal Lodge, his home since 2003, as a form of inheritance for his daughters, the Princesses of York.

Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the privy purse, has confirmed that the Duke of York's funding for Royal Lodge will come from legitimate sources.

The duke convinced Palace authorities to let him stay as he is able to cover the costs himself, according to claims in The Times.

Andrew proved he has sufficient funds from legitimate sources, though it has not been confirmed where the money is coming from.

It was widely reported earlier in the year that King Charles was keen for Andrew to downsize and move into Frogmore Cottage, the former home of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

According to inside sources, Andrew's eldest daughter Beatrice, 36, has sided with the King, as she is "desperate" to be included on the "royal roster".

The source told Woman's Day Magazine: "Beatrice knows her future lies in the hands of her uncle, not her dad.

"Bea has another baby on the way so it's all about the future and moving forward."

The source suggested that the princess has seen her inheritance "taking a big hit" after her father stepped down as a working royal.

They added: "Even though Beatrice has landed comfortably by marrying into an Italian aristocratic family, it's mortifying to have Andrew decimate the family's fortune and reputation.

"She desperately wants to be formally put on the royal roster and if that means distancing herself from her father, then so be it."

Regarding Andrew's future at Royal Lodge, a source told The Times: “If Andrew can pay for his own upkeep with legitimate means, then it is not an issue.

"But the King’s patience has run out when it comes to funding his brother’s lifestyle in a way that does not fit his status.”
