Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's contract with Spotify was terminated last year

Princess Beatrice could spark a "rivalry" with Meghan Markle after being pictured at a Spotify event earlier this week.

The Princess of York was photographed attending at Spotify’s intimate evening of music and culture at Cannes Lions 2024 despite the streaming giant cutting ties with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year.

Speaking on the GB News Royal Record podcast, Svar said: "Princess Beatrice recently attended a Spotify event at a French festival, this really caught my attention because Spotify had a very bitter public split with Harry and Meghan. Last year they were branded grifters."

Royal correspondent and co-host Cameron Walker responded: "There might have been a word beginning with f before you said the word grifters there."

Svar added: "To see Beatrice attend the Spotify event and also cosying up with a Spotify executive, it just makes you think what is her relationship like with Harry and Meghan at the moment?"

Cameron agreed: "It's really interesting because I think we have seen Princess Beatrice in particular become more cozy with the working royals over recent months.

"We've seen the garden party of Prince William where she supported her cousin. We're hearing rumours that they might be starting to do more when it comes to official public engagements, not as working royals, but helping out when they need to.

"Whereas I think that would be unheard of a couple of years ago when all the stories were, that they were cosying up to Harry and Meghan.

"But I don't think she needs to take sides because it's all about the public image of the Royal Family and the private Windsor family.

"I think she can be friends or family, have a good relationship with both cousins, both Harry and William despite the brother's differences.

"But the Spotify thing is really interesting. Maybe it was just a coincidence that they happened to be at the same event and she was invited. I suspect maybe she's not going to suddenly launch a podcast like Princess Eugenie but I guess watch this space.

"But is that going to rub Harry Meghan up the wrong way? I don't think Harry will care too much, but will there be some rivalry between Meghan and Princess Beatrice? I guess we'll have to wait and see."

In June 2023, Spotify announced that its partnership with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had come to an end.

Meghan Markle's Archetypes podcast left executives at the streaming company underwhelmed.

The couple were later branded "f*****g grifters" by Bill Simmons, head of podcast innovation and monetisation at Spotify.
