Royal fans had never properly seen the Princess of York's wedding veil

Princess Beatrice gave a rare insight into a private ceremony as a new picture has been released.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's tribute to Princess Beatrice on their fourth wedding anniversary exposed a new detail about the bride's style.

On July 17, the 40-year-old property developer posted a previously unseen photo from their wedding in 2020, which showed Princess Beatrice's veil in full for the first time.

The couple could be seen holding hands and kissing below a tree following their private wedding ceremony.

Princess Beatrice, 35, wore an upcycled version of Queen Elizabeth II's ivory taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell, the designer behind the late monarch's own wedding gown.

She paired the dress with Queen Mary's diamond fringe tiara that Queen Elizabeth II wore to marry Prince Philip in 1947.

The specifics of Princess Beatrice's wedding veil, however, were unclear until now.

As seen in the picture Edoardo posted on Instagram for their anniversary, Beatrice wore a plain white veil with multiple layers.

Princess Beatrice's wedding veil was not displayed alongside her dress when it was displayed at Windsor Castle in the autumn of 2020.

The exhibit, which Beatrice went to see, featured the vintage Norman Hartnell dress with the princess's metallic Valentino wedding heels.

It also featured a recreation of her bridal bouquet, but no veil was present.

Princess Kate and Meghan Markle's veils were both displayed with their wedding gowns when the dresses were exhibited at Buckingham Palace in 2011 and Windsor Castle in 2018, respectively.

Princess Beatrice's sister, Princess Eugenie, opted against wearing a veil when she married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.

The low back of her gown showed her scoliosis scar, which was an intentional choice from the princess.

Eugenie said she "always wanted" to show her scar to help smash taboos.

Like many couples during the COVID-19 pandemic, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo rearranged their wedding plans, opting to tie the knot in a scaled-down ceremony with a smaller guest list than originally envisioned.

The couple cancelled the plans for their May 29, 2020, nuptials.

It was later announced as a surprise that they walked down the aisle on July 17.

They exchanged vows in front of 20 close friends and family members, including Beatrice's grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
