Princess Anne was "unaware" of Kate and Prince William's statement before it was made public, it has been claimed.
The Prince and Princess of Wales issued a personal message to the Princess Royal after her return to duties last week.
Kate and William, both 42, wrote on social media: "Super trooper! So great to see you back so soon! W & C x"
The prince and princess were reacting to photographs of Anne during her first engagement since being released from Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she was treated for minor head injuries.
However, a source told The Mail that Princess Anne was "unaware" of the social media post before it was shared online.
They also claim that medical advice was for the Princess Royal to rest up over the summer, as the results of head injuries are not always immediately obvious.
The Royal Family did write on social media that the Princess Royal was beginning "a gradual return to duties", which implied she would not be returning to the hectic schedule Anne was famous for before.
For instance, in 2023 Princess Anne carried out a whopping 457 engagements, the most out of anyone in the Royal Family.

Kate and William's message that it was "great to see [Princess Anne] back so soon" may not have pleased the royal's doctors, according to reports in The Mail, as they are likely keen for the princess to rest over the summer.
The 73-year-old has garnered a reputation for being the hardest-working royal and does not like being told to rest, according to her two children.
In an ITV documentary titled ‘Anne: The Princess Royal at 70’, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips were asked whether they had tried to get their mother to slow down.
Zara joked: “I mean good luck!”

The princess also shares investiture responsibilities with her nephew, Prince William.
However, so far in 2024, Anne has carried out 17, whereas William has only completed eight.
The mother-of-two was also originally scheduled to carry out 20 of the 35 engagements in the Royal Diary for the month of July, which equates to 53 per cent of duties.
