Laurence often accompanies Princess Anne on official public engagements. The couple visited Sri-Lanka earlier this year on a three-day-tour.
In Sri Lanka they visited the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic where they received a gift from the Acting Chief Custodian.
In an ITV show about Anne released in 2020, Laurence spoke about he and the princess’s similarities stating: “We are both map and chart people. We like to know where we are and see where we are going.”
He also joked about Anne’s marriage to her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips: “It’s quite amusing that she married first an army officer and then a naval officer. So there must be something about the military that attracts her.”
