Graham Smith, the CEO of the anti-monarchy group Republic, took to X to criticise the Princess Royal's travel arrangements.
He wrote on X: "Shameful. Aylesbury is less than an hour's drive from Windsor, but Anne takes a helicopter."
Fans took to social media to defend Princess Anne, with one saying: "Well, yeah, but it would be an hour's journey by a 15-vehicle motorcade that would have taken a team of 10 people a week to organise."
Another royal fan said: "If you had one, you'd use it too!"

Princess Anne is one of the main members of the Royal Family carrying out engagements since King Charles and Princess Kate temporarily stepped back from duties.
In January, Kensington Palace announced the Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery.
She has since been recuperating at Adelaide Cottage after spending 13 days in The London Clinic.
Buckingham Palace later confirmed that King Charles had been diagnosed with a "form of cancer".
As a result, the monarch has paused all public-facing duties.
The main royals carrying out duties currently are Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Anne.
