Prince William is taking on a more modern form of parenting with a ‘hands on approach’ as Kate remains in hospital, according to royal author.
Former royals have left much of the childcare up to nannies, but the Prince and Princess of Wales want to be more present in the upbringing of their children.
The raising of their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, is a “top priority” to the couple who put their children first and jobs second.
The author of a new biography about the reign of King Charles III, Robert Hardman, stated: “We know they are a very tight family unit, and he [William] wants to be there for them.”

While Kate has been recovering in hospital, William has been splitting his time between looking after their children and looking after his wife.
Hardman continued: “So much of what they do with those kids is about normalizing life and not making them feel like they are in a special gilded cage.”
The royals make sure that they don’t “leave it all to the nanny” and often carry out the school run and get involved with their children’s school activities.
It is reported that the children have yet to see their mum in hospital as they continue to attend Lambrook School.

Prince George is expected to enrol at Eton, a boarding school for boys, when he turns 13 where his father attended from 1995.
A royal commentator has also claimed that Kate’s sister and mother, Pippa and Carole Middleton, are set to help Prince William look after their three children.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said: "The Middletons are a really close family and Carole is a very hands-on grandmother, and I'm sure she will be at the helm. She often picks the kids up.
"Pippa has children of her own now, but I'm sure she will help by offering to have the kids round for tea and that kind of thing."

Seward continued to tell Hello Magazine: "William is incredibly supportive as a husband.
"It's pretty unusual for the Prince of Wales to cancel engagements because his wife isn't well – that certainly wouldn't have happened in the past – but he's a modern man whose family is more important to him than anything else."
According to HELLO!’s royal editor, Emily Nash, Kate is expected to continue comforting her children from hospital.
Nash said: “Kate loves FaceTiming the children when she is working away overseas so I’m sure they will be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital, and the kids will be keen to see her as soon as she’s well enough.”
